Apex & Armorexists to help riders buy the gear that keeps them safe without wading through marketing fluff — every helmet, jacket, glove, back protector, boot and intercom compared on what actually matters: certification, materials, weight, fit and honest tradeoffs.

What makes us different

Every gear site says it’s honest. Here’s the specific thing we do that most don’t: we lead with the certification, and we tell you plainly what we did and didn’t do to evaluate a product.Most “we tested 40 helmets” roundups can’t prove they tested anything. We take the opposite approach — we haven’t crash-tested this gear, because nobody honestly can on a review budget, and we say so out loud. What we do instead is read every helmet and every piece of armor against its published certification (DOT, ECE 22.06, SNELL, CE), compile the specs from the manufacturer, and cross-reference independent lab data where it exists. Then we rank on the things that decide whether gear protects you in the real world: does it fit, is it comfortable enough to wear every ride, and does it carry the right rating. Who writes this

Apex & Armor is written by Stephen V., a motorcycle-gear enthusiast — genuinely into this stuff — who reads spec sheets, certification standards and lab data for fun. Stephen V.is not a test-lab engineer and doesn’t claim to be one; there is no fake “expert panel” here and no invented credentials. What you get is a habit of checking every claim against the source and saying so when a product cuts corners. When we cite a safety statistic or a certification detail, it links to a primary source — NHTSA, the federal helmet standard, the UNECE regulation, the Snell Foundation, or an independent lab like MotoCAP or SHARP — so you can check us.
